The Food Hall of the Footscray Market was transformed into the ultimate Kitchen Stadium for Tin Chef 2008. A large and appreciative crowd of food lovers, market goers and pho fanatics cheered on a selection of chefs who battled it out in a series of fifteen minute long cook-offs. Narrowly beating Lien Tran from Bo De Trai was winning chef Richenda Pritchard from Delizia Cucina in Seddon, who wowed the judges with her delicious Cointreau Zabaglione with fresh raspberries and strawberries. Other competing chefs were Gezahagn Yedete from African Town and Lachlan Lloyd from Café Fidama.
The expert panel of judges included Matt Preston from the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, Mary Ellis from Slow Food Victoria and Rebecca Hoswell from the Fifteen Foundation. Hosts with the most, Shirley Billing and David Nguyen provided hilarious commentary, DJ Fiona Scott-Norman caused the first Food Hall dance-off with her food-inspired tunes, and Born in a Taxi provided roving entertainment.
